Highly Visual is an ethical, green, and compliant company, deeply committed to responsible filmmaking and conservation. With a focus on natural history, the company ensures that every project adheres to strict environmental guidelines, minimising its impact on wildlife and ecosystems.
Additionally, the company prioritises compliance with local laws, including permits and wildlife protection regulations, while fostering strong relationships with local communities and conservation organisations to support ethical storytelling.
Highly Visual was established in Tanzania in 2002 and moved to Kenya in 2013. Originally the focus was stills photography but became the first company in the region to work with drones and since then have evolved into film.
Barny Trevelyan-Johnson is the most experienced drone operator in the region, with over ten years experience and with that he has also travelled the globe extensively working in some of the planets most extreme environments. He holds current Kenyan and UK licenses and is fully insured.
In 2021 he was honored by the Television Academy Primetime EMMY Awards for his role in Addtional Cinematography for contribributions to the EMMY AWARD WINNING ACHIEVEMENT - Outstanding Cinematography for a Non-Fiction Programme "David Attenborough: A Life on Our Planet"
In 2022 he was recognised by the Critics Choice Documentary Awards as part of the cinematography team
that won the BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY AWARD for "Our Great National Parks"
In 2023 "Wild Babies" won the daytime EMMY Award for Outstanding Travel, Adventure and Nature Program and was nominated for 4 others.
Also in 2023 "Our Planet 2: World on the Move" won at Jackson Wild for Animal Behaviour - Long Form
In 2024 "Our Planet 2 - World on the Move" was nominated for a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Cinematography for a non-fiction programme.
Also in 2024 "Incredible Animal Journeys" was nominated for 4 News and Doc Emmys.
